The aim of this study was to elucidate the pattern of information-seeking behavior among postgraduate sports management students in Iran. The study employed a descriptive-correlational research design. The statistical population consisted of all sports management students, from which 385 individuals were selected as the sample using the Cochran formula. To achieve the research objectives, the Information-Seeking Behavior Questionnaire by Jain and Fine (2003), in the form of a Likert-type spectrum with five options, was utilized. The questionnaire measures information-seeking behavior across 8 principles (specificity, minimal effort, motivation, confidence, simplicity, conformity, familiarity, saturation). The formal and content validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by nine sports management experts. Its reliability was also calculated as 0.96 using Cronbach's alpha. The structural validity of the questionnaire was confirmed through confirmatory factor analysis. Descriptive and inferential statistical methods such as confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling were employed in data analysis using SPSS and Lisrel software. The research findings indicated that motivation, confidence, simplicity, conformity, saturation, familiarity, minimal effort, and specificity significantly impact the information-seeking behavior of sports management students, in that order. Therefore, attention to these factors and the development of empowerment policies for students in this field appear to be important and necessary.
