The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between the perception of insecurity and mental well-being with the mediation of self-control and hope in people participating in public sports in the conditions of the covid-19 pandemic. The statistical population consisted of all athletes who were engaged in sports in the parks, walking lanes and health roads of Razavi Khorasan province. A statistical sample of 384 people (199 women and 185 men) were selected using the available random cluster sampling method. Data collection was done through the questionnaire of perception of insecurity, mental well-being, self-control and hope. In order to analyze the data, Pearson's correlation coefficient method and modeling with path analysis approach were used. The results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between the perception of insecurity and mental well-being through the mediating role of self-control and hope in people participating in public sports, and the research model has a good fit. Based on the results of this research, it is suggested that sports officials identify the obstacles that cause mental insecurity among people participating in public sports and increase hope by providing disease prevention training, fun programs at health stations and raising the level of public sports facilities and equipment and provide their maximum presence in these activities.
