Abstract
Purpose: This research was conducted with the aim of investigating the effect of moral leadership and commitment of coaches on the understanding of sports success and satisfaction of athletes.
Methodology: The research method of the present study was field research. The statistical population was all the competitive swimmers of Fars province who were selected 150 people using available sampling method. To collect information from Brown et al.'s (2005), Nasirpak and Ramzaninejad's (2014) commitment questionnaire, Roberts & Treasure (1998) sports success perception questionnaire and Moslehi (2013) Athlete Satisfaction Questionnaire were used. After collecting the data, descriptive statistics methods were used to report the results and inferential statistics methods were used to analyze the data by 21spss software.
Findings: The findings showed that ethical leadership has a positive and significant effect on athletes' satisfaction (p = 0.001) and coaches' commitment on athletes' satisfaction (p = 0.001); However, moral leadership does not have a significant effect on the perception of sports success (p = 0.061) and the commitment of coaches on the perception of sports success (p = 0.53).
Conclusion: According to the results, it is suggested that training sessions be held for coaches to familiarize themselves with the ethical leadership style in order to increase the level of satisfaction of the athletes. The officials of the clubs should seek to attract ethical and committed leaders for the success of athletes.. For example, officials can use ethical tools that measure honesty, attention to others, etc., in selecting their coaches.
